My First Visit To The Nou Camp

Saturday, November 26th, 2011

I recall the first time I went to the Nou Camp to see FC Barcelona it was early 2004 and Ronaldinho was playing in those days – in truth it was actually the first season that Joan Laporta was the president of Bara. When I walked into the stadium I was struck by its sheer scale and walking in at ground level was stunned to look down at the pitch.

It turns out the pitch is 2 metres or so below ground level and done in order to increase the stadium’s capacity at some specific point in its history. The Nou Camp was opened in 1957 and though it's been extended and expanded since then, at 1 time it may hold more than 100,000 spectators. However , there days out as the stadium is all-seater it can only hold 98,000 – that's still a lot of folks.

With such a huge crowd you may think it takes a long time to empty the stadium after a match. But it is highly surprising that it empties so fast and in reality the club claims to can empty in just 5 minutes. The streets around the stadium get pretty packed though and transport it difficult. The roads get blocked by folk, buses full and the metro is log jammed with folk – luckily I was inside walking distance.

When I initially began going to observe Barça play it was after a period of relatively poor performance and it's true that Laporta inherited a club that had lost any faith in its ability to win trophies.

Nevertheless with Frank Rijkaard as coach and stars like Ronaldinho, the club started to win. Although they did not win the Spanish League that year theydid the following. As significantly they restored their self-confidence and crowds started to revisit watch them play. These days it’s much tougher to get good seats at all but matches against the lowliest of teams as season tick holders and club members have the pick of what’s available.

Great start to 2011-2011 season for FC Barcelona

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

FC Barcelona made an impressive start to the 2011-2012 season with a 5-0 win over Villarreal. While Real Madrid are top of the table after their own 6-0 win, it was against Zaragoza instead of a fellow Champions League contender.

The Spanish League got off to a late start after the 1st round was postponed due to a strike by the players’ association. Numerous clubs in the top two divisions are in administration and lots of players have not received wages as a result. The action against the league was to make them put into place measures that would guarantee payment or allow the players to terminate their contracts and move to a club that could afford to pay them.

At the end the first match of the season did not happen and for some considerable time it seemed like the second match also wouldn't happen either. However , the 2 sides reached an impulsive compromise and so it was that week two was played. Week one has been put off to January, when the second half of the season was scheduled to start, with that match now taking place in May.

Barcelona of course played for two more major prizes. First there was the Spanish Supercup, this year against Real Madrid. Madrid’s coach managed to be as petulant as normal and bad feelings spilled over onto the pitch with several red cards awarded at the end of the match yet again.

In the end Barcelona took that trophy and then the Western european Supercup, against Porto, which was more friendly. Aside from that they played Napoli in the Gamper Prize. And one of the top items of FC Barcelona stories is that Cesc Fabregas is now on board, who has quickly fallen into place and added to the goal tally.

If you'd like to see FC Barcelona play this year check out Simply Barcelona Tickets. With FC Barcelona tickets for La Liga and Champions League you can be sure you don't miss out in what promises to be another great year.

The High Profile FC Barcelona Roster And Its Star Players

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Not many football teams across the world can provide the kind of excitement offered by FC Barcelona, especially considering high consistency to which they have reached. That simply fact ensures that FC Barcelona tickets are always in such high demand with visitors to Barcelona flocking to see this great team in action. One look at its roster and you’ll find many of the biggest stars in the game, and it’s a power-packed lineup that might just rank among one of the finest of all-time.

For many people the team is summed up by Argentine player Leo Messi. The number 10 for the squad would also be the number 10 for the entire globe if the whole world fielded one team. A hugely exciting player to watch, he can score with either foot and can defeat single-handed the entire opposition defence at times. Instilling a deep respect – and probably fear too – into the other team, his opponents struggle to stop him.

When you have Messi on your team, it’s certainly easier for everyone else to get their own work done as well. They know that some of that attention will be spread to him, and they know that if they set themselves up in the right position, they should find themselves with great opportunities to score and make plays.

One of the newer additions to the FC Barcelona roster is another great striker, David Villa. He’s a great shot and an excellent addition to Barcelona attack. Part of the winning Spanish World Cup squad he’s always keen to make a break for the ball and knock it into the back of the net.

Much of Barcelona’s strength comes from the quality of passing, which allows them to dominate possession. With the ball in their control they can make many quick passes, quickly wearing out the opposition. In control of the midfield are Xavi and Iniesta. The pair of them help to frustrate the opposition while dictating the speed of the game to suit their own team.

Nevertheless, however good they are the opposition team is sometimes going to get a lucky break. Luckily FC Barcelona has a strong defence too. There they have team captain Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique and Brazilian Dani Alves. And guarding the goal is Victor Valdes, so clearly focused on keeping the ball out and quick to bark orders at his teammates.

As you can see, the FC Barcelona team keeps on winning for a very good reason. With a cast of stars that starts with – but by no means ends – Leo Messi, they have some of the world’s finest players. If you ever have the opportunity to get FC Barcelona tickets, you don’t want to miss out, because this kind of collection of players doesn’t always come around.

Experience The Thrill Of Barça: FC Barcelona Tickets Online

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

When you approach the stadium on match days there is a real buzz in the air with fans of all ages making their way to the all-seater stadium, the famous Nou Camp, which can hold up to 98,000 spectators. Football is family entertainment in Spain and the fans may consist of die hard supporters in the 20s, middle-aged couples, grandparents with their grandchildren, kids birthday parties – you can see it all. So, make sure you have bought FC Barcelona tickets before you go!

While there is a definite buzz beforehand, during the match the stadium breaks into party mode. The passion and excitement create an atmosphere that is electric – and if you’re a football fan going to see Barça play is a must, particularly at the moment with such a great and successful team.

While Barça was unable to match their 2009 achievement of the treble it was notheless an extraordinary year for FC Barcelona.

As I write this the season is over and we’re counting down the (many) days until the season gets going again and the transfer window is open.

After the 2010 World Cup, which had an impressive tally of Barça players in the lineup for the final including new signing David Villa, the players were really fired up for the start of the season.

That turned into win after win after win for Barça, often with huge goal tallies – a 5-0 win against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu was one of the highlights.
For a time scoring 5 goals seemed to be par for the course but they peaked with an 8-0 awaqy win against Almerica. With a string of wins like that it just shows how dominant Barcelona really was, much more so than the points difference with Madrid.

Barcelona’s success is at least partially due to their high possession that comes from knowing each other’s play intimately and extremely high levels of fitness. Their game is beautiful to match, consisting of pass after pass while they control the pace and position of the ball; and when an opportunity opens up it is the trinity of Xavi, Iniesta and Messi that often makes things happen.

Lionel Messi in particular is something to watch with some moments of completely sublime football. He can create moments of pure magic, whether they work out or not and always makes entertaining football. And workhorses like Carles Puyol, who despite being out of action for a good chunk of the season is hoping for a strong comeback following successful knee surgery.

Naturally Barcelona’s fans are appreciative of all that. Matches often take place in a party like atmosphere as great play and hopefully great results melt away everyone’s problems in life into the background for the 90 minutes of play for what for some is a quasi religious experience. If you’d like to experience the same you can buy FC Barcelona tickets online in advance. That way you ensure you have tickets in hand when you arrive at the stadium and experience sublime football by one of the greatest teams the world has ever seen!

Why You Should Buy FC Barcelona Tickets For La Liga 2011/2012

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

If you’ve never visited Barcelona, a beautiful city on the Mediterranean, and even if you have now is the time to plan a visit to coincide with the Spanish League season 2011-2012 and order FC Barcelona tickets – that way you’ll see possibly the best football team in the world.

The top two teams in Europe faced each other at the end of May 2011 for the final of the Champions League, which took place at Wembley. FC Barcelona beat Manchester United 3-1 and despite a few worrying minutes while they took some time to find their feet, Barça ran rings around their English competitor. Clearly Pep Guardiola’s team were at the top of their game.

How much longer for Barça?

Probably the biggest doubt is how long Pep Guardiola will remain at the club. Even if he continues to deliver as he has since taking over as coach, their is no guarantee that his successor will.

Guardiola is thoroughly Barça as he played in Johan Cruyff’s “Dream Team” and coached the Barça B team before being offered the job of coaching the main squad. While he may have ties to the club that go deep, he has already stated that he wouldn’t want to stay at any club too long, pointing out Sir Alex Ferguson as an example; he’s been at Man Utd for 25 years.

It is therefore perfectly understandable for Pep Guardiola to want to look for challenges outside the club, somewhere where he can apply his considerable managerial talents to built up a team and give them the same kind of winning streak he has done while Barça’s coach. The 2011-2012 season could therefore be Pep Guardiola’s last at FC Barcelona as he looks for other challenges; it could also be your last chance to see them play at such a high level as it is by no means certain that they will be able to retain their current streak of form.

If you’d like FC Barcelona tickets for the 2011/12 season make sure you order online. While the Spanish League won’t be drawn until July there are two clasicos coming up when Barça faces Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup in August – keep an eye out for tickets.
